Floor Care & Maintenance Guide

Floor Care & Maintenance Guide

Proper maintenance protects your flooring investment, preserves its appearance, and extends its lifespan for years to come.

🧶

Wall-to-Wall Carpets

  • Daily Vacuuming: Vacuum high-traffic areas using a commercial-grade vacuum with a rotating brush or beater bar to remove dirt before it damages carpet fibers.
  • Immediate Spot Extraction: Blot wet spills immediately using a clean white microfiber cloth. Never scrub, as this permanently frays carpet fibers.
  • Deep Steam Cleaning: Schedule professional steam cleaning every 12–18 months to remove embedded oils, grease, and soil.
  • Tile Rotation (Carpet Tiles Only): Rotate high-wear carpet tiles with low-wear areas to ensure even aging across the room.
🪵

Laminate Flooring

  • Moisture Control: Never use wet mops, steam cleaners, or excessive water, as moisture can swell and buckle the flooring.
  • Dry Maintenance: Use a microfiber dust mop or soft-bristle vacuum daily to remove abrasive dirt.
  • Damp Cleaning: Clean weekly using a barely damp microfiber mop together with a pH-neutral laminate cleaner.
  • Surface Protection: Install felt pads beneath furniture legs and avoid plastic rolling casters without protective desk mats.
🏢

SPC Flooring

  • Debris Sweeping: Sweep or vacuum daily using the hard-floor setting without a spinning beater bar.
  • Wet Mopping: Wash regularly with a damp mop and a gentle commercial detergent. Avoid bleach and heavy wax treatments.
  • Stain Management: Wipe coffee, oil, chemicals, and other spills immediately to prevent discoloration.
  • Load Distribution: Place wide rubber furniture cups beneath heavy stationary furniture to evenly distribute weight.
🏋️

Gym Rubber Flooring

  • Daily Cleaning: Sweep or vacuum daily using a soft-bristle broom or a vacuum designed for hard floors to remove dust, chalk, dirt, and debris.
  • Wet Mopping: Mop the floor regularly using a damp microfiber mop with a pH-neutral rubber floor cleaner. Avoid excessive water, which can seep beneath loose tiles.
  • Immediate Spill Removal: Clean up water, sports drinks, oils, sweat, and other spills immediately to prevent staining, unpleasant odors, and slippery surfaces.
  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use bleach, ammonia, solvent-based cleaners, or abrasive scrubbing pads, as they can damage the rubber surface and reduce its lifespan.
  • Protect Against Heavy Equipment: Place weight distribution mats or rubber pads beneath heavy gym equipment to reduce pressure points and prevent indentation.
  • Inspect Regularly: Periodically inspect flooring seams, edges, and joints for lifting or separation, and repair damaged sections promptly to maintain safety.

Vinyl Sheets / Rolls

  • Regular Washing: Mop frequently using a neutral commercial cleaner and a microfiber flat mop.
  • Scrubbing Restrictions: Never use stiff brushes, steel wool, or abrasive powders that may damage the protective PU coating.
  • Chemical Prevention: Remove hair dyes, harsh sanitizers, and heavy oils immediately to prevent yellowing and seam damage.
  • Entrance Matting: Install walk-off mats at every entrance to trap grit, stones, and tar before they reach the flooring.
🌿

Grass Carpets (Artificial Turf)

  • Fiber Brushing: Brush against the grain using a synthetic stiff-bristle broom to keep blades standing upright.
  • Debris Removal: Remove leaves and debris regularly using a leaf blower or turf vacuum.
  • Rinsing & Sanitizing: Rinse with clean water and use a diluted antibacterial turf cleaner to eliminate odors.
  • Heat Protection: Keep welding tools, industrial lights, and other heat sources away to prevent melting the synthetic blades.
